In 2009, Gunda Krauss cycled 1000km from Munich to Rügen, Germany's largest island located in the Baltic sea. At the age of 70, and despite irreparable hip problems, Gunda Krauss decided to cross Germany from south to north on her pedelec tricycle. It took her about 50 days to cycle more than 1000 kilometres accompanied by her 15 years old dachshund Sauser, who sat in the bicycle basket. The Munich based environmental organisation Green City e.V. helped her organize the trip and supported her during the travel.
